Tokyo - Blending Conventional With High-Tech Modernity
When one thinks of Tokyo, Japan, images of lights and colors and sounds come to mind. Tokyo is 400 years old and has so much history associated with it. As the largest city in Japan, Greater Tokyo houses 35 million people. As an interesting mix of traditional Japan with the high-tech Japan of today, it's a great spot to visit for vacation. However, you will have to get a passport before you go. Start by filling out a U.S. passport application form.
You can make getting ready for a trip so much easier by applying for your passport online. It's definitely so much simpler to go online, where everything you need is available on one site, and get your passport that way. The biggest perk, however, is the expedited shipping. Usually, it takes 8-12 weeks for a passport to be delivered, but shopping online means getting your passport as quick as you like, even in just day. There is a whole variety of passport services, such as passport renewal, depending on what you need.
If you are interested in the history of Japan, definitely visit the Edo-Tokyo Museum. The museum houses so much information pertaining to the city's history in a way that makes it exciting to explore. There are incredibly detailed models of an ancient Kabuki theatre, Edo Castle, traditional Japanese shops and residences, and more. The museum itself is a work of art, and walking around inside is an experience in itself.
Shopping is something fun to do on vacation, and a great place to do it is Ginza, one of the more well-known shopping districts. Simply wandering helps to really show what the urban atmosphere of Tokyo is like. There are also plenty of places to shop and eat. If you are interested in shopping some more, Shinjuku and Shibuya are similar.
The temples and shrines of Tokyo are well-known for their intricacy and beauty. Sensoji Temple, one of the more famous in Tokyo, was built in honor of the goddess of mercy, Kannon. The building and the grounds surrounding it are beautiful and provide a glimpse into the traditional facet of Tokyo. You can also do a little souvenir shopping nearby at the vendor kiosks. Definitely look for other shrines and temples in the area where you're staying, as they are all stunning works of art.
One of the most popular things to do while in Tokyo is see the delicate pink cherry blossoms, but you'd have to visit in the Spring to see them. Chidorigafuchi, one of the best places to see them, is almost unreal with the endless walkways of cherry blossoms. It's also a great option to take a boat under the trees. Tokyo is famous for its absolutely gorgeous and well-kept gardens, and Chinzanso Garden is one of the most liked. Gardens make it easy to escape the busy city and relax for a bit, and there are plenty of them around.
You'll never have a shortage of things to do in Japan, no matter what you're interested in, and doing a little research can make the trip spectacular. Just be sure to fill out a new passport application form to get your passport before you go. With passports and passport services like online passport renewal all available online, you can have your passport in your hand and ready to go as soon as you'd like to leave for Tokyo.
