Techniques In Packing And Loading For An International Move

A month or two before the present day, you have contacted a moving firm for international removals to Canada. Now, all you need to do is just wait for the truck to arrive. However, did you ready your things for loading? Have you segregated them? Readying your items for loading is one of the most crucial elements of moving. Done correctly, the preparation can save a lot of time, money, and effort for both you and the movers.

Here are a few useful guidelines on preparing your stuff for loading.

1. Disassemble furniture that can be taken apart such as bed frames, sofas, and chairs. Pack the parts together and label them. Through this method, you save a lot of space and weight as you arrange them into the truck.

2. Utilize furniture padding to protect the corners and surfaces of wooden furniture from damage. You can rent padding from the moving company or purchase your own at a home-improvement store. In addition, padding makes it easy for you to slide heavy objects into the truck.

3. Place the largest and heaviest items first such as the gas range, refrigerator, washing machine, and closet---basically anything that takes two or more people to move. Make sure that they are placed at the far wall farthest to the truck's rear and in their upright position. Make sure too that the truck is balanced by placing equally heavy objects on the left and right sides of the vehicle.

4. Load long items such as mattresses, long mirrors, sofas, headboards, and tabletops thereafter. Position these items against the longest wall; this arrangement saves space and keeps the items upright.

5. Next, load the largest and heaviest boxes at the middle. Boxes with appliances inside them should be placed at the top of heavier boxes to avoid damaging the items inside. Work your way down to the lightest boxes.

6. Lastly, load fragile items or irregularly shaped items.
