Buy Canon 60d, Audio Levels Can Be Controlled Manually, Which Makes For Far Better Audio Recordings

If you are in the market for a great DSLR camera, I would strongly suggest you buy Canon 60d. Why do I say this? It rocks in every way.

Audio levels can be controlled manually, which makes for far better audio recordings.

A big reason to buy Canon 60d is the top image quality Through my experience the 60d is the right DSLR to get. It is more robust than the t2i, better controls, and it is cheaper than the 7d or 5d, but, and has the image quality of the 7d.

The sensor size is huge, not full frame, but still the same size as regular 35 mm film. This means you will get that same great shallow depth of field which is the typical look of 35mm film. Before this, such a cinematic look could only be achieved with adaptors.

I honestly can say the 60d looks better than cameras that cost ten times the price.

The flip out LCD monitor is the other great thing. The 60d is the only DSLR that can be used on a Steadicam without investing lots of money.

Just flip out the screen and let it fly, the screen swivels dynamically, so shooting at extreme angles is made easy this way. The important thing is when you are balancing the camera on a Flycam just make sure the LCD monitor is flipped out. You want the Flycam to balance properly, which is the hardest thing to get right at first.

A feature length film is really not impossible to shoot on the 60d. I am doing it right now, and it has never been easier to shot. Camera set ups are quick and easy, sometimes faster than when shooting news.

Example: I get a wide shot. Then I just pick up the camera still on the sticks, and move it in for the medium shot, then the two shot, pick it up again, and get a close up, that's how simple it is. Sometimes I don't even need lights depending on the ISO.

To do this with a heavy film camera or even the larger digital ones you will need a crew to do this. Shooting on the 60d can be fast and spontaneous, and flexible.

The weight is perfect. I think the 7d and 5d are sometimes a little too heavy. The portability is so cool. Basically you can take the 60d anywhere you want. I hand it on top of the worlds biggest wind tower in Germany, easy to climb up with it. And you are shooting cinema quality images, in public places without drawing attention. Try doing that with a film crew. In this way I think its size is its greatest asset.

The controls are easier to use than the t2i. The controls are like the 7d or 5d, and ripping through menus, or changing the white-balance on the fly is easy and fast.

I know a lot of pros in the business after working ENG for over twenty years, and all the newspaper shooter I know uses 60d, they love it. In my carrier I personally have not had a more inexpensive camera that has produced such awe inspiring images. You will love it, so buy Canon 60d too if you are serious about DSLRs. Drop over to my Canon 60d review and see some cool footage I shot on the 60d.
