Get these Documents Before Shipping to Australia

So you are getting ready to finally settle down in the Land Down Under for good! That is the wise choice. Australia is a land of fast development, quiet neighborhoods, and majestic natural wonders. Practically everything you need is there.

Prior to making the move, it is important to know a few important customs regulations. Following these rules will make shipping Australia easier and more convenient. When moving your items to Australia, have the following requirements:

1. All shippers are required to have a visa from the Australian embassy in their countries of residence to acquire entry and to import household goods shipments. Additionally, you would need to provide the Australian customs a photocopy of every page of your passport.

2. You need to fill out customs form B534 for all shipments to be imported. You can acquire this form from the destination agent. The agent can clear the cargo even if the shipper is not in the country, provided that the form B534 is completely filled and that no dutiable items are included in the shipment.

3. The submitted form B534 must be original and completely filled by the shipper. Australian customs do not accept photocopied or faxed forms.

4. Furthermore, you need to completely fill out an Authority to Act form to allow the agent to clear your cargo on your behalf. Just like the form B534, you need to submit the original Authority to Act form to customs.

5. You need to list down a list of contents of all goods being packed. For instance, if one of your boxes contains your rock climbing equipment, you need to list down the carbines, quick draws, ropes, and everything else inside that box.

6. You need a descriptive inventory of the items you are going to send. This is quite important if some of your cargo are unusual or rare.

7. Include any receipt for shipped goods not owned and used for at least one year.
