Learning How To Forgive Yourself; Living A Lifetime Of Freedom in Just Ten Days!

We have all had different things in our lives we wish we had not done. Some of those things can cause us sadness as we think of them, while other things can cause so much regret we are able to barely live with what we have done and discover it is hard, or even impossible, to forgive ourselves for it. Maybe you know what I'm saying. You are so abashed of your actions that youve done that you cannot comprehend you could or should forgive yourself. Instead, you feel all you are able to do is take the remainder of your life paying penance for it, in hopes that will take away the oppressive burden of guilt you live with each day.

Regardless of your past wrongdoing, you may be released from the burden you now carry, caused by your unwillingness to forgive yourself. You could have asked the clemency of Our Lord God for what you have done, but if you have failed to forgive yourself, you will remain defeated, maybe bondage, till you opt to be obedient with the Word of God and pardon yourself.

Frequently when we look at the original meaning and desire of of a word, we can better know how to use it in our lives. This is true as we look at the Greek word for forgiveness which means to free fully, i.e. Literally relieve, release, dismiss or let die, pardon, divorce from, depart, dismiss, let go, loose, put ( send ) away, to release, set at liberty.

To anyone who may ask, God gives His gift of forgiveness, meaning; He totally frees, releases, dismisses and pardons us from the debt we owe and guilt of our sin. He sets us "body, soul and spirit" at freedom. Nevertheless he doesn't stop there. He then tells us to pardon others, as well as forgiving ourselves, in the same way we have been forgiven, promising to give us the ability, by God's Holy Spirit, to do so.

How do you go about actually pardoning themselves? There's no exact way but these recommendation could be helpful.

First, understand that one needs to take the decision to pardon ones self based primarily on God's Word to do so. Forgiveness is a choice and an act of the will is necessary to make it happen.

Leviticus 19:18 claims you shall love your neighbour as yourself... Loving yourself is a command of God and love always includes forgiveness.

Second, if you have not already asked, ask your Heavenly Father to pardon you for the sins you have done. It is important to do this before working through forgiving yourself. Remember, He's waiting to forgive you and will graciously do so , if you only ask Him.

Nehemiah 9:17 But you are a God of forgiveness, Gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in loving kindness.

Then, sit down quietly with God and ask His Holy Spirit to show you the things that you have not let go of or forgiven yourself for. Jot it all down on a notepad. Be certain and put down all the specifics list the names of individuals you hurt and the ways that you hurt them. ( No one will see your writings. )

From there be honest and express how you feel due to what you did; Are you annoyed at yourself? Do you feel embarrassed? Undeserving? Be honest, for God knows it all already. This is the best place to release all the emotions you have carried or tried to deny.

Now, take the decision to forgive yourself as God has forgiven you. Literally release, dismiss, let die, pardon, let go, loose, put ( send ) away, release and set yourself at freedom from the incorrect you are guilty of. Put your wrongdoing into His hands and ask Him to heal your emotional wounds and allow you to go on without regrets, let go of the past and start fresh!
Ultimately destroy your list and throw it in the bin as a visible prompt that the guilt of what you have done has been forgiven and carried away, long gone.

Now, go and experience the healing, peace and freedom that's yours to enjoy as you praise God for His power of forgiveness.
