If You're Living With an Angry Spouse Follow These Tips
When people live with someone who is always angry, they themselves can experience emotional consequences such as fear, discouragement, and humiliation. Not many people will be comfortable living in a household in which someone in angry at them seemingly all the time. If you're having trouble in this situation, you'll obviously find life a bit difficult. Fortunately, there are certain techniques you can use to help your spouse control their temper.
You definitely don't want to do anything to incur further wrath. That means staying on top of your own emotions no matter what is going on. Groveling won't help, either. You should stay in control of your emotions so once your partner cools down, you can direct their attention to something positive. Controlling your emotions doesn't mean that you should be a whipping post though. If you scream back at your partner, you won't be helping the situation. Most people have to defend themselves when attacked verbally, but you should avoid doing so. If it gets too bad, leave the room instead of joining the fight.
Don't ignore everything that your partner is saying. There may be small clues hidden within your partner's tirade which you can use to help avoid future problems. You two can sit down and talk about the reasoning behind the argument once things have cooled down a bit. You may not be entirely innocent, and if not, you should admit your role in the incident. There may have been a few ways that you contributed to the problem such as saying something accidentally. You'll undoubtedly want to avoid doing the same thing in the future.
It's also a good idea to give validity to your spouse's feelings. If you make them feel guilty, it will do nothing to help the situation. In fact, this will usually bring about more anger. Your spouse is entitled to his or her feelings without being judged since everyone handles different stressors differently.
